Let’s cut to the chase: It’s called MTVintage. The name of the Lyric Mall’s new resale shop has caused some confusion, but there’s no doubt about the vision behind it.
MTVintage, owned and operated by 26-year-old Morgan Wildfong, is primarily a clothing resale shop with merchandise sourced from “everywhere. I’ve been collecting for years—marketplaces, garage sales, thrift stores, pretty much anywhere.”
Currently, Morgan does not buy items from or accept consignments from customers, mainly due to space constraints.
Aside from the store’s charming décor, it’s evident that Morgan’s venture is anything but impulsive. “I’ve always been into fashion,” she said. “I originally wanted to go into design. While I enjoy making clothes, I find styling people more fulfilling.”
A lifelong thrift store enthusiast, Morgan has now opened one in her hometown of Lapeer. “I’m from Lapeer.”
Though she hopes to eventually move to a larger location, Morgan’s current plan is to “get comfortable here, get my foot in the door, and meet everyone.”
Despite the limited space at MTVintage’s current location, Morgan has big plans. “I want to expand the men’s and kids’ sections and offer onsite alterations.”
Speaking with Morgan, it’s clear that her plans are on track to become reality. She’s already making an impact on the downtown ecosystem, as noted by Tim Williams, who owns Plastic Planet, which is also located inside The Lyric Mall, directly across the hall from MTVintage.
“It’s great to have her here,” Williams said. “It looks like she’s doing really well.”
So glad to see Lyric Mall thriving.
